Back to the future

Time Circuits

About the Project

I have loved the Back to the Future trilogy from a young age, it partly inspired me to become an engineer. A few years ago, I wanted to start a project that allowed me the opportunity to better hone my embedded programming skills. At the time, I had built several custom embedded solutions during my role as a robotics engineer. However, I felt that my code could be more efficient and elegant. I decided to build the time circuits that Doc Brown used to set the destination travel time in the Delorean Time Machine. There are a lot of people out there that have built there own BTTF props, I used some of these other blogs as inspiration but I have built almost everything from scratch. The aim of this blog is to document the design decisions and process I went through when building my own version. While my main aim is to detail the project for my own records, I hope that is can also inspires others.
