Flexible Riser Inspection System
This platform was designed to inspect flexible riser pipes using X-Rays. The platform is lowered and secured to the riser on the surface, then lowered down the pipe. When performing an inspection, the radiation source and detector is rotated 360 degrees around the pipe, creating an image of the internal layers of the riser. The concept was tested on a loch at Fort William, Scotland.
Train Vibration Monitoring System
The intention of this project was to develop a device that could detect the premature failure of doors on a passenger train. Doing so could have potentially prevented significant delays for commuters. We assisted in the development and testing of the system on a Metro train in Barcelona, Spain.
Handheld Adhesion Inspection System
I assisted in developing this vacuum adhesion inspection platform designed for detecting defects in aircraft exterior surfaces. In operation, the defect detection sensors are attached to the pneumatic rams and engaged by the user. This system has a small Allen Bradley PLC that controls the pneumatics on this platform.
